Description

Students will read and analyze excerpts from W.E.B. DuBois' "Address to the Nation" in 1906 on ending segregation/discrimination and having full access to voting rights by answering 23 questions and completing an extension task. The answers are included where appropriate. This would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--In your own words, what has been stolen?
--What would be an example to illustrate what had “flourished” in the last year?
--Why is the right to vote, and access to the right to vote, so crucial for those who support DuBois?
--Rewrite the third point in your own words to demonstrate understanding.
--Explain DuBois’ point of education being more than just book learning in a classroom.
--Identify the purpose, or point, of the reference to new immigrants.
--If you were a reporter at the time, what are 3 questions you would have asked DuBois after he delivered this address and why?
