The Virginia Plan New Jersey Plan Connecticut Compromise Primary Source Analysis

Students will read and analyze excerpts from the Virginia Plan, New Jersey Plan, and the discussions that became the Connecticut Compromise (Great Compromise) by answering 25 questions. They will then complete a venn diagram style extension task and answer 2 more questions. 

The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!  

Sample questions include:
--Explain the connection between the “difficulty” and the “necessity” from the first paragraph.
--Do you agree with the order in which the inquiries must be made, why or why not?
--Why would it have been necessary to agree upon the process for the admission of States in advance?
--Was this document more of a revision of the Articles of Confederation or a “starting from scratch” situation and why?
--On what will the answer to number 10 be based?  Who does not factor into that and why?
--How does this plan attempt to prevent the potential for an abuse of political power?
--To what extent was this truly a compromise?
