In this 45-60 minute lesson plan for middle school US history, students will answer or accomplish the following:
• What was the countercultural revolution and why was this era called the Swinging Sixties?
• How did politics in the U.S. shift during the sixties?
• How did the Vietnam War and other historic events affect the U.S. in the 60’s?
•What were some of the international events going on at this time?
Students will engage in a group activity that will challenge them to present information about culture and counterculture.
Students will take the roles of readers, listeners, speakers, writers, and presenters.
This lesson also provides teachers with a warm-up activity, individual activity, and lesson extensions.
