The Civil Rights Act of 1964 Primary Source Analysis

Students will read 11 excerpts from the Civil Rights Act of 1964 from LBJ's presidency and answer 29 questions. Some questions are directly from the text, some require students to pull from what they have learned in earlier time periods, and others have students look forward to 1965 and 1968. The answers are included and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--Which relic of the Jim Crow Era does this contradict? 
--Under what circumstances could the answer to number 4 take place?
--How does this excerpt aim to ensure equality amongst citizens?
--Provide an example from the historical context which helped pave the way for what this excerpt refers to.
