Description

This fun, educational, and engaging activity is for students taking Biology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, or related course. Students will decode the letters to complete the two-and-a-half-page summary statement about the digestive system.

A cryptogram is a puzzle where each letter has an assigned number. There is a letter–number assignment table across the top of all three activity pages for students to keep track of the coding process. The puzzle grid layout in the thumbnail preview provides the depth of the challenge students will love at the upper secondary level.

This activity sheet will serve as an additional study guide upon completion. The message covers the digestive system’s primary functions, the types of digestion, the layers of the GI tract, the peritoneal membrane, peristalsis and absorption, morphological features, nomenclature of nutrient-digestive juice mixtures, organ sequencing and functions, and accessory organ role and attachment points. This task also makes for an ideal lesson plan for a substitute teacher.
