Description

I designed this deck of 44 question cards or task cards to be used for review of potential and kinetic energy, work, the transfer and transformation energy and to review how mass, height and speed affect total amount of energy in a system. Cards have questions and diagrams that review common vocabulary as well as DOK 1 and 2 concepts that students need to know connected to NGSS DCI MS-PS-3-1 and MS-PS-3-2 to grapple with the higher DOK level questions and tasks found on unit assessments and performance tasks

The questions about Kinetic and Potential energy do not require any use of the formula but rather ask students to determine what would happened to the total energy if the mass, speed or height were to be doubled or halved. The work formula problems are questions 41-44 in the deck so they can easily be removed if not part of your unit expectations.

The cards should fit into a 4x6 Photo Case like these or a quart zip top freezer bag for storage.

I intentionally made a version that is low ink and in black and white for easy printing onto colored card-stock. If you choose to make multiple decks, like I do, you might want to copy each deck onto different colored paper to make it easier to check the cards are returned to the correct decks after use.

I own several Four in a Row games (Connect Four) but there are apps available so the game could be played on an a device if you don’t own the games.. Like this one http://www.connectfour.org/free-connect-four.php

For review I have students play a 4 in a row game using a desk of these question cards

•Players pick a color token to use

•Players take turns asking each other questions from the deck

•if they get it correct they can place a game piece

•if they get it incorrect they lose their turn

•First person to get four in a row of their color WINS!

I have also included an answer recording sheet if you prefer to use the task cards without the answers on the cards for other types of class review or for stations.

As a bonus I’ve included directions for two whole class review games and a set of blank cards for you to add your own questions.
