Description

Renaissance Artist Convention - AP Art History - Print & Digital - Lesson Plan - Google Drive

Not all lessons have to be about the 250! Engage students by researching and dressing up as their favorite Renaissance artist. After that, students will network with other Renaissance artists and exchange business cards based on their research. I like to teach this lesson after my contextualization lesson for the Renaissance as a way to introduce students to some artists they will learn about.

This lesson can be a single or two-day lesson. For a single-day lesson, have students research their assigned artist as homework and do the convention the next day. For a two-day lesson, have students research in class one day and participate in the convention the next day.

This resource comes as a Google Drive resource. When you download this resource, you will see the terms of use and printing notes. On the printing notes page, you will have a link to the Google Drive folder. You will need to make a copy of the material if you would like to edit it. All of these instructions, including a step-by-step visual guide on how to use this resource, is included in the terms of use. If you would like to print the resource material, you can do so. Simply go to "File," "Download," and "PDF" to save the resource as a PDF and print!

What's included in this resource? ⇣⇣⇣⇣⇣

  • Renaissance Artist Convention Application Page: This page will provide an overview of the project. Students will choose which artist they want to be and research more about them.
  • Renaissance Artist Convention: Students will network with other Renaissance artists, exchanging business cards. At the end, they will complete an Exit Survey that acts as a reflection for the activity.
    • I include a sample artist (Santa Claus) as an example of how to fill out a business card. You can choose to replace this with another artist from a different time period (like Medieval Art) if you choose.
  • Name tags: Add an extra layer of fun by having each student write down the name of the artist they are researching.
  • Teacher Lesson Plan: Provides an overview of the lesson with suggestions for how to implement this within your class.

Best yet, all of these items are EDITABLE!!! If you need to change or adapt them to fit your curriculum or classroom needs, you can do that!

Happy teaching!
