Description

Students will visit 3 websites to learn about the assassination of Julius Caesar, how the Ides of March has carried through to the modern day, and answer 12 questions. The questions cover Caesar's rise to power, interpreting quotes, Rome's reaction to Caesar's death, Rome's post-Caesar fate, and more! The answers are included where appropriate. ***UPDATED to include a point of view creative task.***

Sample questions include:
--Explain a connection between Caesar’s assassination and the Ides of March in Elizabethan England.
--Compare and contrast the desired versus actual outcome of Caesar’s death from the point of view of the conspirators.
--What led to Pompey and Caesar’s alliance falling apart?
--Explain the meaning of this quote in your own words to demonstrate understanding: "That line of the soothsayer, 'Beware the ides of March,' is a pithy line, and people remember it, even if they don't know why.”
