Description

Students will compare and contrast the D-Day accounts of an American soldier landing at Normandy and a French civilian from World War 2 (WW2, WWII). They answer 14 questions then compare and contrast the accounts (3 additional questions). The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--Inferring from the text and what you have learned, what was the purpose of this action?
--Why didn't Robert Edlin have anywhere to take cover?
--Do you think she sympathizes with any of the soldiers she mentions? Why or why not?
--If this HAD been Marie’s first wartime experience, explain 3 ways her diary entry would have differed.
--How do you think a Japanese soldier would have reacted to the news about D-Day? What about a Japanese civilian?
