Description

Students will read and analyze an account of the storming of the Bastille and the start of the French Revolution by answering 18 questions and completing 2 extension tasks. One question has them make connections to the American Revolutionary War and look at the events in France from two points of view. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--Explain the purpose of the new taxes.
--Why do you think there were German and Swiss troops in France?
--What could have been the purpose of “setting the heads through the city?”
--Citing evidence from the text, were the decapitations a success, why or why not?
--Identify and explain a cause of the queen’s “consternation” and possible implication of that situation.
--In what way could “vive la nation” be seen as a turning point in the French Revolution?
