Description

Students will read excerpts from the Justice Brewer's majority opinion of Muller v. Oregon and answer 18 questions of varying degrees of difficulty. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--Describe the opinions and sources used by Brandeis in his defense.
--Write a synonym, or definition, for copious.
--Why was the connection in number 7 given such consideration and prominence in the case?
--What did Brewer mean when he said, “the greed as well as passion of man?” How was that connected to this case?
--Did this case overturn, or refute Lochner v. New York, why or why not?
--Should this be considered a landmark case, why or why not?
--Was this case progressive (in terms of the Progressive Era), why or why not?
