Description

Texas History students will read and analyze the Turtle Bayou Resolutions from the Mexican National Era by answering 11 questions and completing a creative task. This would be great for a sub and the answers are included where appropriate.

Sample questions include:
--In your own words, re-write what Jose Granado is accused of. Explain why that is something the Anglo-Americans would be upset about.
--Which right of Anglo-Americans was perceived as being violated in item 7? Seeing as they were residents of Mexico and not the United States, was this claim valid? Why or why not?
--Identify the specific phrases in the text that show how the settlers felt about Santa Anna. Are the phrases positive or negative?
--A “resolution” implies that a conflict had been resolved or a solution agreed to. Is that an accurate representation of relations between Mexico and Texas at this point, why or why not?
