Sunday School Lesson | In My Father's House

Lesson from John 14:1-4

Complete Sunday School Lesson that teaches kids that Jesus is preparing a place for them in Heaven.

John 14:1-4

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

No one (but God) knows what the future holds. We do not know if we will live to be 100 years old or if we only have 100 seconds left in our life. We do not know what the future holds, but we do know who holds the future. We can always trust Jesus when He says He loves us and He is preparing a place for us in Heaven.

In this Sunday school lesson from John 14:1-4, kids will learn about the perfect place that God is preparing for us. God has a place for us in Heaven! Our future is secure when we trust in Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

Discussion

Sample: This conversation took place during what is often called the Last Supper. It was the night that Jesus was be betrayed and arrested, and the night before He would be crucified.

Jesus was giving last minute instructions to His disciples before going to the cross. He was trying to prepare them for what was coming and He promised that He would come back again. Death could not hold Jesus in the grave.

In these moments with His disciples, Jesus was telling them not to be afraid and to trust Him no matter what happened. This is the same promise that He makes to us. Even when it doesn't seem like it, Jesus is in control! We can always trust Jesus.
