Description
Algebra contains six lessons created to teach algebra at the Grade 5 and 6 level. Each lesson begins with instructions and examples to introduce new concepts. After that, the teacher does a few practice questions with the class. At this point, students are ready to do questions on their own. Each lesson ends with an optional challenge question. Answer keys are included.
This resource also includes a PowerPoint mini lesson “Order of Operations” and a digital math game “Name the Operations”, which can be used as a warm up activity or for review. Problem solving is also incorporated into this unit with the inclusion of 3 digital problems related to algebra. Project these for your students and allow a few minutes for them to try to solve the problem on their own. Then work through an additional slide for each problem that explains in an interactive step-by-step process some strategies that could be used to find a solution.
A quiz to assess student learning is included at the end of the unit.
