Description
This product has been designed to support the development of knowledge in angles - naming, classification and problem solving within lines and shapes.
Using the PowerPoint, simply download and use - it is ready to go.
Initially, the PowerPoint presentation introduces the children to simple angles which they need to name, it then moves onto naming and identifying the size of the angle using the knowledge of 180 degrees in a straight line. Names of lines are also included, using perpendicular and intersection.
Following on from the types of lines, triangle and quadrilaterals are introduced. Internal and external angles are explored - asking the children what they already know in order to solve what they do not know. For example, if they are given two interior angles of a triangle and they know that the total sum of degrees in a triangle are 180 - they can then use this knowledge to solve the missing angle. Equivalency in angles/sides are also introduced. Children can apply their knowledge of straight lines and full turns to solve other missing angles.
Finally, more complex shapes are provided for children to use their skills to solve missing angles.
As an additional activity, we have included our Loop Game on angles for children to practice and embed the skills they have developed throughout this unit.
Full instructions for the Loop Game are included within the PowerPoint.
Please see the images for the quality of what is provided and how the activity grows in complexity, building on the children's knowledge of angles.
