This resource includes several activities that will help you teach your students about descriptive investigations. Two objectives are practiced in this resource 1.2B Plan and conduct simple investigations & 1.2E Communicate observations and provide reasons for explanations using student-generated data from simple descriptive investigations. This resource includes:
★ A PowerPoint presentation (18 slides): It explains what a descriptive investigation is and shows an example your students can use to understand how to complete the recording sheet. The presentation has been SECURED in order to protect the images and content in it.
★ A recording sheet file (7 pages). It includes a blank recording sheet that you can use in any experiment you choose. Three different experiments (penny, sugar cube and ramp) for your students to complete independently. I’ve included two versions of each experiment so you can adapt to the different levels in your classroom.
★ An experiment instructions file (4 pages). It includes instructions on how to use this resource as well as step by step instructions for each of the experiments.
It can be used in whole group instruction, small group or for independent work.
