Description

This lesson goes with this History For Humans episode on Emmett Till & The Civil Rights Movement

This lesson will engage, support, and excite your students! It starts with a youtube video-lecture from History for Humans and comes with a follow-along interactive note sheet that could be completed digitally or with pen and paper. It also has a quick seven-question google form quiz for a quick formative assessment. Then it has an extension activity where students read an article on America during the Jim Crow Era through the start of the Civil Rights Movement and use it to create a timeline of the important events that led to Jim Crow and then what events started to challenge it and start the Civil Rights Movement.

This is part/episode 1 of a four-part unit on the Civil Rights Movement.

Please check out my other episodes/lessons for the Civil Rights Movement Unit are:
1) Emmett Till, Jim Crow, & The Spark of Civil Rights
2) The Jackson Sit-In & Early Civil Rights Movement
3) Martin Luther King and Malcolm X: A Struggle for Civil Rights
4) The Black Power Movement & The Olympic Fist
