Description

Are you looking for a review activity that gets students up and talking? This is my "go to" review activity for EOC review that I call "Give a Clue." It reviews modern US History - 1877 to the present.

You know those days when you finish your lesson 5-10 minutes early and won't want downtime in class? This is the game I pull up to review those days!

How to Play:

  • Students stand up and pair up. You can also do groups of 4. Half of each group faces your projector screen and the other half of each group has their back to the screen. You project a slide from the game on your screen. The students facing the screen give clues to their group (with their backs to the screen) to try and get them to guess each of the items they see. After 2-3 minutes you debrief with them, then students switch places.

This is an active review game that allows for students to take the lead! If you listen carefully, you'll be able to tell immediately what they are still struggling with and can debrief/review accordingly.

This product covers the Texas Standards (TEKS) - but since I've left this in Power Point, you can edit and adjust to fit your state standards if necessary.

What is included with this purchase:

  • detailed teacher instructions
  • over 60 slides covering the topics below
  • important dates in "Modern" US History (1877 - Present)

Topics included:

  • Foundations of America (quick review focusing on mostly government related things, including the Bill of Rights)
  • The West
  • Gilded Age/Industrialization
  • Progressive Era
  • Imperialism/World War I
  • Roaring 20s
  • Great Depression/New Deal
  • World War II
  • Cold War
  • Vietnam/60s
  • Civil Rights
  • Modern America

The game is pretty massive, so I use it by era so that I can review a little bit each day prior to our EOC test.

Teacher feedback:

  • Stacy C. says, "Students really loved the highly engaging activity. The lower level learners where successful when paired with higher level students."
  • Lillian P. says, "Great resource to break up the monotony of state test review."
  • Jacqueline A. says, "I used this as a review game with my students and they definitely loved it! I will totally keep using this resource for years to come!"
