Description

A guide and worksheet practice to tell the time to the minute using the 12 zones on an analogue clock!

In this packet, students will practice:

  • Identifying each of the 12 zones on an analogue clock
  • Counting by 5’s around an analogue clock
  • Counting on or back from marked 5 minutes around the clock
  • Reading and drawing time to the minute

What’s included?

***This is the continuation of “How to Tell the Time (Part 1),” so if you need the basics (learning about the hands of a clock, reading o’clock, half past, quarter past, and quarter to), I recommend that you purchase that one first.***

-    6 posters teaching how to tell the time.

  • These yellow posters explain how to read analogue clocks by splitting them up into zones (and how this correlates to digital clocks), counting by 5’s, and counting to the minute.
  • 4 worksheets for learning the 12 zones on an analogue clock.
  • These worksheets cover reading/writing and shading the correct zone on analogue clocks.

-   4 worksheets for telling the time by 5s.

  • These worksheets cover reading/writing and drawing the time on digital and analogue clocks to the multiples of 5.

-   4 worksheets for telling the time to the minute.

  • These worksheets cover reading/writing and drawing the time on digital and analogue clocks to the minute.

-   Answer key for the 12 pages of worksheets.

How do I prepare?

  • You can make complete packets by printing and stapling the yellow and white pages double-sided. (Or, half-page booklets work great, too, and save paper!)
    • Alternatively, the yellow pages can be printed as posters for a bulletin board to remind students throughout the unit. The white worksheet pages can then be printed off for practice.
  • There are answer keys for all of the worksheet practice pages. These can be projected on a whiteboard/SMART board or printed for students to check their work independently, or to check each other’s work.
