Imperialism Political Cartoon Analysis - Google Docs

Fillable Google Doc with 7 images for students to analyze the complexity and impact of Imperialism on the colonized people as well as the colonizers. Students are to provide an explanation of the artist's message based on prior knowledge and context clues.

It can be challenging for students to interpret the artist's opinion and message in political cartoons. If this is something you have not done in class before, I would encourage you to model the process of analyzing one or two with the whole class. I use this resource on ActivelyLearn so that I can provide immediate feedback to students as they work through the assignment.

Students feel a strong level of achievement when they grasp the meanings of the cartoons. I have seen proficiency in this skill greatly improve the self confidence of students in their comprehension abilities.
