Description
How do you teach students to multiply a series of integers? This no-prep, scaffolded lesson teaches students how to determine the sign when they have multiple factors. Once students know the rules for multiplying integers, they need to learn how to find the sign of the product when multiplying a series of positive and negative numbers. Students are given examples and then try to find the pattern in looking at a series of 3 negative integers, a series of 4 negative integers, etc. Once they see the pattern, they are asked to count the negative integers in a series and determine the sign of the product. The next slide inserts some positive integers among the negatives. They are then asked to find the product of a series of integers and check to see if their products have the correct sign. This deck includes drag and drop terms with a cloze activity and a multiplication riddle.
Product includes a printable foldable for the student notebooks, and a printable worksheet for additional practice.
Also included is a teacher key and video instructions.
