Description
Welcome! This listing for human anatomy and physiology features two full-page study guides about the nervous system. In the first study guide, students will complete the following tasks.
-
Identify the divisions, components, functions/importance, and examples of the nervous system and its parts down to the cellular level.
-
Compare and contrast all of the glial cells and the neurons (sensory, integrative, and motor).
-
Map out a phonics strategy for remembering that sensory neurons are afferent and motor neurons are efferent.
-
Identify the alternative name for a nerve impulse (action potential) and write out the three phases of a nerve impulse.
-
Describe the physiology during the polarization, depolarization, and repolarization state.
-
Fill in the missing words in a paragraph that explains the importance of saltatory conduction along the myelinated nerve fibers.
In the second study guide, students will accomplish the following goals.
-
Use words in a word bank to explain how a nerve signal crosses a synaptic cleft (synapse).
-
Map out the names and key functions of the lobes in the brain.
-
Unscramble a word bank in the order of the highest state of wakefulness of the lowest state of wakefulness.
-
Explain the timing of rapid eye movement.
-
Identify the three layers of protection for the nervous system.
-
Contrast the dura mater from the pia mater.
-
Match the description of the nervous system disorder to the proper term.
There are twenty-five questions in the first study guide and twenty-seven questions in the second study guide.
This PDF file will become editable upon conversion to Microsoft Word using an Adobe Acrobat Reader DC program. It includes a two complete keys with the answers in red and blue font.
