Description
Longing for a hands-on investigation during distance learning?
This simple lab requires only basic kitchen supplies so students may investigate water's high surface tension. An excellent hands-on lab for distance learning as students do not have to have access to scientific equipment. Students are provided the question, "How many pennies do you think a full cup of water can hold?" They then hypothesize a value, test their hypothesis, and then explore the effect of soap on the number of pennies.
This is also a customizable lab should students not have access to pennies. Any small, metal object that sinks will suffice (for example, bolts work well).
