Description

An original play script from INSPIReducation is funny, fast paced and visits many time periods in the history curriculum. There are 18 main parts covering 15 pages of well written dialogue. The play can be used as a class resource to read a play script, or can be acted out with a class, a year group or even, as has been done, with the whole school (different year groups take on different periods visited and develop a dance/song/actions/costumes linked with the period whilst the main actors move through the scene).

The play shows children journeying through history and seeing how inventions speed up human progress, from Tudor Britain to late 19th century inventions to late 20th century space travel. The script is funny and is incredibly entertaining for both children and audiences of parents/families and carers.

The play begins with our four intrepid heroes (the four main characters who travel through time) who discover that the school trip they are on has suddenly taken them back in time. Thinking initially that they are on the trip and have stumbled upon an immersive area, the children initially "go with it" discussing personal hygiene with an old woman. However, upon finding a clue card which had 12 empty spaces, the children realise that they need to find twelve numbers at each stage of the their time travelling quest to return them safely back to 2019 and their awaiting school trip. The children travel through various periods meeting King James 1st, Henry VIII, witness a procession of the top 10 inventions from the 19th century, journey with Neil Armstrong on Apollo 11 before finally returning home with their collection of numbers.

The script lasts for an hour - but their is ample opportunity to extend this. Once purchased, the script can be edited by you to add in further scenes or remove elements to fit with your intentions.

We hope that you enjoy the play and please look at the preview for a taste of the quality of the script. Thank you.
