In this activity on World War I Propaganda, your students will be introduced to the purpose of propaganda and how it is used by comparing WWI propaganda to modern day examples.
Specifically, your students will:
1) Be introduced to the definitions of propaganda, forms of, the purpose of propaganda and identify common propaganda techniques through a full color power-point and corresponding worksheet.
2) Examine, analyze and compare historic (WWI era) and contemporary propaganda to draw conclusions about how propaganda techniques have changed over time through a series of nine full color slides that compare historic (WWI) era propaganda to a modern day example; corresponding student chart included.
3) Create a unique piece of propaganda using any available media for a current issue. Step by step directions/ worksheet included for students. A grading rubric is included for teacher use.
