Westward Expansion Reference Sheet and Review Activity

Students will review the growth of America (American expansion) including the Proclamation Line of 1763, the Louisiana Purchase, the Mexican Cession, Seward's Folly, the annexation of Hawaii, and everything in between. They will read a brief overview of each territorial acquisition and steps taken towards completing Manifest Destiny, answer 20 questions, and complete a map task. There are also sections on challenges to expansion, items that helped expansion, how the East and West stayed connected, and the states and territories at different times in United States history. The answers and a brief teacher information section are included.
