Description
African tribes developed an extensive collection of oral literature long before Muslim traders brought an emphasis on written records to the region. Even after that point, oral traditions were viewed as the more authentic “African” way and they persisted as the primary method of teaching morality, reasoning, debating skills, community values and African religious values to the young. Dilemma tales are a form of African oral literature intended to improve reasoning skills and debating skills. This product contains three African dilemma tales, one with a “correct” answer and two that are debatable, to introduce your students to the flavor of dilemma tales and allow them to experience this African cultural approach to teaching and literature.
