Chinese Civil War and Mao Zedong Learning Packet

Students will get an overview of the Chinese Civil War and China's transition to communism under Mao Zedong with 4 reading passages and comprehension tasks. The topics covered include the civil war and Chiang Kai-shek going to Taiwan, China becomes communist, the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, and the wider context of the Cold War and how it impacted China's international relations. For each reading passage there is a graphic organizer, a fill in the blank passage, and 3 review questions. The comprehension tasks include true/false/fix, the creation of a timeline, and a Janus figure. Teacher information and the answers are included where appropriate. This can be completed as a jigsaw activity, as stations, or a learning packet if used with a sub.
