Description

Target learning: Learn the different types of ecosystems and biomes and the organisms that live there. How do organisms depend on living and nonliving things in their environment?

Materials:

  • Lab sheet
  • Folders (Optional)
  • Computers or iPad for research or to create the movie

This is not really a lab where students have a questions to investigate. Students will research the 6 different land biomes (Tropical Forest, Desert, Taiga, Tundra, Grassland, and Deciduous Forest). They will research all the living and non-living things that are found in each biome. They will also research the climate and rain fall for each biome.

After learning about all six biomes the students will pick one biome to complete a project. They can pick between making a folder or create a movie/ presentation. A great movie making program is photo story.

The research and projects could last your class a whole week. Check out the computer lab or have the students use iPads to find the answers to each biome. Find some time for students to present the information to the class when they are done.

Here are some great websites to use or you can have the students find their own information. Looking up biomes is not that hard. The student also will find a lot of cool facts and information that they did not know about.
