Students will learn about the Era of Good Feelings with this power point and note guide (comprehension tasks). There are primary source images and text selections to analyze in the power point, and additional primary sources to analyze in the note guide. Topics covered include but are not limited to the Market Revolution, the American System, the Missouri Compromise (Compromise of 1820), sectionalism and nationalism, the Adams-Onis Treaty, the Tariff of 1816, the Panic of 1819, key cases from the Marshall court such as Gibbons v. Ogden and Dartmouth College v. Woodward, and more! It extends a few years beyond the standard end of the Era of Good Feelings so that students have a fuller grasp on the historical context, especially for discussing the rise of sectionalism.
