Description
Welcome! This forest quadrant map reading analysis activity is ideal for an environmental science, field ecology, forestry, or a natural resources course in agriculture, or in science.
This activity includes two mock maps of a fifty square-yard forest quadrant that depicts the trees of the canopy and the understory, respectively. Trees are symbolized according to the legends. The students’ task is to answer twenty questions on a full-page document. The questions cover the topics of distribution, abundance, plant succession, invasive exotic species, habitat preference of species, layers of vegetation, other biotic factors, and tree classification. A couple of the questions are open-ended. I included a two-page key with the answers in bold, red font.
This PDF file will become editable upon conversion to Microsoft Word using an Adobe Acrobat Reader DC app.
