Description

Students review map skills and research skills by going on a geography treasure hunt. There are 28 questions and each answer is a different location in the world (country, city, body of water, landform, etc). Two questions have students identify which locations correspond to 6 latitude and longitude coordinates.

There are then 2 questions to determine where the "treasure" is buried (one letter from 16 of the previous questions will help students identify those answers). They must identify the country and the specific location within the country to "find the treasure." They then creatively, but plausibly, describe how they could retrieve the "treasure" from said location. Lastly, students draw or describe what the treasure is that they have uncovered.

Time permitting, a world map is included where students can mark the locations of each answer.  This could be a fun way for your students to decompress after standardized tests! The answers are included and if your students have access to research materials this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--Where is New Year’s celebrated first each year?
--Which cities can be found at the following 3 coordinates?
--Where can the northernmost McDonalds be found?
--Which is the shortest river in the world?
--Which archipelago has two “z”s in its name?
--In which country can the food “loukoumades” be found?
--Which lake is the deepest in North America?
