This document includes higher level comprehension questions for each chapter of the novel Hatchet by Gary Paulsen.
Questions were created based on the common core standards for literature and include short answer, analyzing text, multiple choice with multiple answers, and much more. If you are looking for something that goes beyond traditional comprehension questions and asks your students to think deeper, then this is your answer.
Each chapter includes:
1. Short answer questions that require students to use textual evidence and cite page numbers to justify their answers.
2. Passages that require students to highlight the answer to each question in a selected passage.
3. Multiple choice questions that test reading comprehension and knowledge of literary devices such as point of view, conflict, flashback, foreshadow, figurative language, and more.
4. Multiple choice questions that assess reading skills such as summarizing, analyzing character traits, using context clues, sequencing, inferencing, etc.
