J.R.R. Tolkien Activity Packet & Self checking Mystery Picture

Celebrating Tolkien Reading Day just got Easier with this activity Pack from Homeschool Holiday!

Introduce the author before your class reads the Hobbit or one of the Lord of the Rings books, or simply learn the 10 fun facts as presented. 

There are plenty of activities for your learners! 

 The first task is to design your own alphabet. (Tolkien created over 5 different languages.) There is a page for Upper Case and Lower Case letters.

Then learners can test their new "language" by writing their name and a few words and/or phrases.

 There is also a handout containing one of the Elvish languages created by Tolkien. This is for those looking for a quick activity to accompany the day - Write your name in Elvish. There is no prep, just print and go.

 As a creative writing activity you can use the picture prompt and writing paper.

The 10 facts about J.R.R. Tolkien Mystery Picture activity requires both Teacher and Learners to have access to GOOGLE SLIDES.

The picture puzzle contains a You Tube link to a Homeschool Holiday original video about Tolkien for learners to watch. After watching, they complete the 10 question TRUE /FALSE activity based on the video. This self checking activity is engaging as correct answers reveal parts of the picture, and wrong answers do not!
