Description

Where did the War for American Independence actually begin? Was it on the early morning of April 19, 1775 on Lexington Green, or later in the day at Concord Bridge? The debate began almost immediately after the fighting on that fateful day and continues to the present.

In this two day activity students research the conditions at the time that led up to the British Regulars expedition on April 19, 1775. They are then divided into two sides preparing the evidence for a debate supporting whether Lexington or Concord should be considered the most important site for the beginning of the Revolution.

Included is a debate scorecard, a research form, student directions and summary discussion questions.
