Description
In this lesson, students also learn about the boycotts that the colonists used to fight back against the British taxes. This opens the door for you to ask questions about modern day boycotts and students do research to find boycotts that are being used today. After reading through articles on their own they have to decide if they agree with the boycotts or not. Students also complete a written summary using terms they are learning from the notes presentation.
These notes look at several modern day examples. Your students will see a correlation between the acts that were passed and the 4th amendment, protection against "unreasonable search and seizure." It is a really fun set of notes to talk with your students about and can open up your class to a number of different discussion topics.
This file includes Google Slides Presentation and Google Docs Fill in the Blank Notes.
Terms they learn about include:
Sugar Act, Stamp Act, Quartering Act, Townshend Act, Declaratory Act, Stamp Act Resolves, effigies, Sons of Liberty, Samuel Adams, the 4th Amendment, and there are discussion questions about boycotts and how useful they are today. There are a lot of real life correlations that can be drawn with this set of notes! I hope you enjoy them!
