Description
An original and fantastic whodunit playscript which keeps the audience guessing to the very last scene!
This play stars Eddie (a teddy bear) and Jack, both living in a land where Nursery Rhyme characters actually exist and became very rich from the massive royalties they received off the back of their own Nursery Rhymes. But times change. Children aren't interested in Nursery Rhymes any more, and the fame and fortune of our beloved Nursery Rhyme characters faded. As Marjorie Dawes states, Nursery Rhyme characters needed to diversify, if they didn't, they would become meaningless and cease to exist. So Little Boy Blue is now a fashion designer, Little Miss Muffett owns and stars in her own daily Talk Show "The Tuffett", Tommy Tucker became a huge singing sensation, Mother Goose opened her own school, and countless other characters changed their career paths.
But there is one spanner in the works - Humpty Dumpty has gone missing. This is where the adventure for Eddie and Jack begins. Embroiled in mystery and intrigue, can they solve the puzzle before any other famous characters disappear too? And can they find out "Whodunit?"
This play has over 30 main speaking parts. It can be studied as a playscript, acted and performed by one class, one year group, or a whole school, with different year groups taking on different elements of the play. As a school, we have had 135 children involved from PreK to 5th Graders (EYFS to Y6 - UK).
Musical interludes are suggested, as well as scene changes, but the script is very flexible for schools to stage this how they want to, for the purposes of their environment and their own needs. It can also be edited by schools to change the script to suit their own specific individual needs.
The script is funny, fast paced and balanced between the characters (with the exception of Eddie and Jack holding each of the scenes together).
