Description
Order of Operations Tic-Tac-Toe With 5 Game Boards increasing in difficulty!
These fun tic-tac-toe game boards keep students engaged and help each other practice solving problems using the proper order operations as they work together in pairs. There are 5 Order of Operations tic-tac-toe boards which increase in difficulty from A - E. Students work in partners and will choose who is X’s and who is O’s. One student will start at any square on the board and solve the problem. If the problem is solved correctly they place their X or O in that square. The other student should also solve the problem to check the first student’s answer and to steal the square if the first student gets it wrong. The students should take turns as they work through the game until one student has three in a row. Be ready with the answer key in case any group cannot decide on an answer.
Once a pair is done with one game, have them bring their board with the solutions to you so you can check their answers before they move on to the next board.
If there is an odd number of students, have the singleton work through the board game and attempt to get three correct answers in a row. Have them check their answers with you.
**I have my students use a scratch piece of paper to show their work and only write the answer and the X or O on the board.
**Answer Keys and teacher directions included!**
