Description
This regular and irregular polygon lesson is great for teaching geometry in a different and exciting way to your 2nd, 3rd, or, 4th grade class. Students will compare and contrast as well as identify the attributes of polygons. This set includes small group and partner activities as well as an individual assessment. When I created it, I was creating something to teach the content from 3rd grade Eureka/ Engage New York Module 7 Part B. The supplemental YouTube video can be linked using the QR code in the teacher's guide, or you can follow this link: Classifying and Comparing Quadrilaterals
This activity includes:
-2 Polygon Pets Playdate pages
These are group activities that will help students explore mathematical vocabulary needed to review polygons as they compare and contrast them.
-7 Polygon Pet Photoshoot pages
These partner pages allow kids to use their creativity while having collaborative conversations about the attributes of regular and irregular polygons. This activity will also give the majority of your class the opportunity to present what they learned to the class, and answer questions for a whole group discussion.
-1 Reflecting on Polygons page
This page is designed to be an individual assessment so you can see what they learned after participating in the small group, partner, and whole class activities.
These are entertaining, ready to go, NON-WORKSHEET resources.
