Description

In this 5 page packet you have everything needed to briefly introduce your students to the rise of Totalitarian leaders after WWI (Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini) before you dig deeper. I use this short lesson in both my U.S. and World History classes.

Your students will:

1) Read a short 1 page introduction that explains what a Totalitarian state is and how it is run. (Included)

2) Use the information in the reading to fill in 1 section of their graphic organizer. (Included)

3) Use the class textbook OR online article (QR CODE link provided), to fill in the sections of the chart about Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin, comparing how each leader fits the description of a totalitarian state.

(Info is: How many ideologies are represented? How did they control their citizenry? How did they deal with their opposition? Who did they blame for their countries problems? What conditions allow the Totalitarian to take power? And MORE...)

4) Complete a homework/extension activity that asks students to do some quick research on Totalitarianism today making connections from events of the past to events of today. (Worksheet/directions included)

*** Answer Key Included! Also includes a GOOGLE & Traditional version for your use!

This is great to introduce the concept of how these dictators came to power.
