Students will read and analyze excerpts from FDR's 1933 Inaugural Address by answering 26 questions, completing an extension task, and analyzing 5 images. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub! S
Sample questions include:
--What would make FDR advise against shrinking back from current conditions?
--Identify and explain 3 items from the historical context that could support FDR’s “common difficulties” and “dark realities” statements.
--Where and how does FDR believe Americans can find happiness?
--Explain the connection he makes to America’s foundation/past/forefathers.
--In what way(s) does FDR see recovery enduring?
--Why might he have paralleled himself and Americans to an army, and to make what point(s)?
--Write a synonym, or definition, for “foe” and “reposed.”
--If this speech had a “hook,” what would it be and why?
--Where in the text was FDR most presidential and why?
