Presidential Inauguration Webquest

Students will visit 8 websites (or parts of a website) and answer 15 questions to get an overview of Inauguration Day. The focus is on the history and traditions of a presidential inauguration and how they have changed over time. The answers are included where appropriate.  

Sample questions include:
--Identify 2 differences between the Vice-Presidential oath of office and that of the President. Why do you think they are different?
--Re-write the phrase, “mental reservation or purpose of evasion” in your own words to demonstrate understanding.
--Choose one other section from this website that you have not already read and provide a summary of it. Then, explain why that aspect of Inauguration Day is included, or is a tradition.
--Do you think the politics of the day or the traditions of the day are more important for the American people and why?
--If there is to be a new Inauguration Day tradition introduced in the future, what would you like it to be and why?
