Description
Print, Cut and Go
NOTE: You will need smartphones, iPads or some other kinds of devices with a QR code reader installed to do this activity. If students are allowed to have their phones in the classroom, you may want to suggest that they install a QR code reader app the night before. I use QR Reader, which is free, but there are many of these types of apps available and most are free.
This activity is quick to set up and gives both you and your students a break from seatwork. Print these mini posters and tape them around your room. Students will check what they think the answer is by using their phone or other smart device and a QR code reader app. This would be a great way to review before a quiz or a test and if you opt to use the reflection sheet, you have a quick way to get feedback on knowledge gaps. I recommend that you give the students the parameters of no more than 3 students per question at a time and set a time limit, such as 10 or 15 minutes to complete the activity.
The focus of these cards is calculating positive or negative slope using 2 points. The focus is on the process, when doing calculations, rather than the calculation themselves. Students identify when the resulting answer would be positive or negative.
