Description

In this lesson resource pack on day and night for 2nd and 3rd graders, students learn that the Earth's rotation causes the cycle of day and night. Using a globe and a flashlight in a darkened room, the flashlight represents the Sun and the globe represents the Earth. When the flashlight shines on one side of the globe, it is day there, and the other side, in darkness, is night. As the globe is slowly rotated, students observe how different parts of the Earth move from day to night and back again. This hands-on experiment helps students visually understand the concept of Earth's rotation and its effect on day and night.
