Who is this sight word reading fluency resource for?

This sight word reading fluency was created with Kindergarten and First Grade students in mind. It also works well for Second Graders who may need more practice with sight word fluency.

What skills will students focus on while interacting with this resource?

✅Sight Word Fluency-Students will read high frequency words from the Dolch Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade Lists. With the Google Slides app, students reveal hidden words as they click each row of the hill or sandcastle. As a result, students build reading fluency as they read each row, the last row revealing the complete sentence. When using the printables, students color in a sun icon after each reading, for a total of three readings.

✅Comprehension- The engaging, summer-themed pictures on each sl⁯ide provides context to the sentences. Students can use the picture to cross-check with the words for meaning and understanding.

✅Writing- The printables provide handwriting practice. After reading practice, learners practice writing the sight word sentences.

Sight Word Sliders PDF-this is the printable version of this resource. It's called 'Sliders' because students can imagine they are sliding down a hill or sandcastle as they read the words! The Sight Word Sliders printables come in two sizes: standard (8. 5 x 11 inches) and quarter pages. On the full-sized, standard pages, students write the given sentences. They also color a sun icon each time they read the sentences.
