Branka's Science PIGnic

Hello! My name is Rebekah Branka. I have four daughters ranging in age from college graduate to elementary student. I am an animal lover, with a lot of pets.  The current count is 3 dogs, 5 cats, 2 parakeets, 1 cockatiel, and a potbelly pig! I thoroughly enjoy teaching science and talking about science in my everyday life.  My daughters have told me on more than one occasion “Mom, your science is showing” when I get into too detailed of a science explanation.

I have been a teacher since the Fall of 2003 for both middle and high school science. My most recent classes have been high school Anatomy, Biology, and Chemistry. I have my bachelor’s degree in Human Development and my master’s degree in Education from Azusa Pacific University. In addition to being a full-time teacher, I am also the science department chair for my school. This role has enabled me to mentor new science teachers and connect them with resources.

For my students, I have created “fill in the blank” notes which allow me to cover a lot of content without requiring them to write down every word I say. I enjoy creating PowerPoint presentations with images and graphics to give context to the content. In addition to the notes, I have Study Guides and test banks (and answer keys) for most of my chapter bundles. My files are saved as PDF and Word files in ZIP folders.
