U.S. Constitution | 27 Amendments | Web-Quest & Realistic Scenario Cards

In this web-quest and card matching activity your students will be learning about the 27 Amendments to the U.S. Constitution and using what they have learned to discuss real life scenarios and how the amendments apply to each situation. (higher level thinking activity)

 Specifically students will:

1) Use their class textbook and/ OR the website links provided, to learn about the PURPOSE of each Amendment (what does it do) and WHY it was added to the Constitution.

2) Will work independently or in pairs/small groups to match 31 real life scenario "cards" to the amendment that each card depicts (Amendment # 1 has 5 scenarios to depict each of the individual 5 rights listed in Amendment)

As students go through the stack of cards, they discuss the scenarios and decide as a group which amendment addresses the question on the card and consequently the answer to the question. Example Card: Senator Hickock and the other members of Congress want to give themselves a raise- can they do this?

3) Complete a creative Exit Card Activity to extend their learning!

**Students can complete all of the activities independently or in small- groups (teacher choice)
