Description
In this U.S. History, Great Depression: Dust Bowl Document Based lesson your students will research the following questions:
- How did the Dust Bowl affect life for American farmers already hit hard by the Great Depression? (1930's)
- How did the Dust Bowl affect migration?
- What was the government response?
Your students will:
1) Warm-up: examine a map of the Dust Bowl area and complete a corresponding map activity.
2) Complete overview notes on the Dust Bowl (who, what, when etc.) on a graphic organizer using a QR Code link to an online article OR their class textbook.
3) Be placed into small groups to examine 16 artifacts (primary & secondary sources- photographs, documents, letters etc.) and write down their observations on the provided chart. (Comprehension questions included)
