Description
Developed by INSPIReducation and tried and tested within classrooms, this resources provides everything you need for your students to learn about the Battle of Britain, the who, the where, the when, the what, the how and the why. Not only that, but the children will also learn about the eight main aircraft involved in the Battle.
This resources includes all the lesson plans, resources, timing, objectives and outcomes for a clear sequence of lessons:
Lesson One) Learning about the Battle of Britain and organising research to develop explanation skills within the children
Lesson Two) Finding out about the 8 main aircraft using online and printed sources available in classrooms
Lesson Three) Being able to recall key facts about the 8 aircraft through making their own Top Trumps game
Lesson Four) Researching one aircraft in detail, including more information on special design features, weaponry, crew, colours and design
Lesson Five) Developing technology skills within focused practical activities
Lesson Six) Making own large scale aircraft in line with research to resemble one of the 8 main aircraft used. It must also enable one child to fit in it!
EXTENSION) Children to re-enact The Battle of Britain with their own aircraft. Using the space outdoors and soft balls as "weaponry", children to play tag with their models. If they get "hit" by a soft ball, they are out.
This resource will inspire learners. The resources are targeted to take children from having no knowledge of The Battle of Britain, to being incredibly knowledgeable and able to apply their knowledge to a range of future activities and discussions regarding elements of World War 2.
