1st Day of School Emoji Activity

Are you looking for something different to do the 1st day of school? UPDATE - this product now includes a version for Google Slides!  

This is a "PRINT, CUT and GO" activity - small about of prep - that's a hit with students and teachers!

In this activity, students are in small groups with a set of emoji. Each group also has a set of question cards. As each question is read, each student chooses the emoji that would show their reaction to that question and EXPLAIN why they feel that way. This is an easy way to get students to open up and talk to each other on day 1!

For example:

Which emoji shows how you feel about (long road trips with family, football, band etc).

This is a fun activity - perfect for when you don't know your students yet!

In the teacher instructions, I've suggested several ways to use this activity including teacher "led" (instead of in groups) and as a station activity.

What you will receive:

• 18 emoji faces/images (like thumbs up)
• 48 question cards (pick and choose - you don't have to use them all)
• 4 blank ones if you want to create your own
• Google Slides version - which is drag and drop (you will receive a link in the zip file)
• Teacher instructions

I suggest you store these in clear plastic baggies.
